If you have a Canadian Forces Certificate of Military Achievement with a Qualification Level 5 (QL5) or Developmental Period 2 (DP2) rating in one of nine eligible military trades, you can apply to have it matched to a civilian trade through a streamlined Trade Equivalency Assessment – you will not need to provide detailed evidence of on-the-job experience and trade skills or references. When Skilled Trades Ontario has verified your qualifications, you will be approved to challenge the certifying exam to obtain a Certificate of Qualification.

For more information download the Trade Equivalency Assessment Application Guide and the Trade Equivalency Assessment Application Form or contact us.

Additionally, to support veterans in their transition from military to civilian life, Skilled Trades Ontario provides an exemption from assessment fees. To apply, complete the Canadian Forces Veteran/Reservist Fee Exemption Application Form and submit it with your application.
