Welcome

Message from Board Chair and CEO/Registrar

Welcome to the new Skilled Trades Ontario website. The government has established Skilled Trades Ontario as a Crown agency to replace the Ontario College of Trades in order to simplify and transform the skilled trades and apprenticeship system in Ontario.

Transition from Ontario College of Trades

New skilled trades legislation has resulted in significant changes to the trades registration system in Ontario:

  • Annual renewals are only required for Certificates of Qualification in compulsory trades
  • Certificates of Qualification in non-compulsory trades no longer expire, even if they have an expiry date on them
  • Only the information of individuals practicing compulsory trades will appear on the Skilled Trades Ontario Public Register
