Cement (Concrete) Finisher

A Cement (Concrete) Finisher installs concrete structures including interior floors and exterior pavements using a variety of methods of construction to produce a variety of finishes, colours and textures in all types of residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings. Specifically, a Cement (Concrete) Finisher:

prepares, forms, reinforces, places, levels, finishes, cures and joints all types of concrete flatwork
operates a variety of powered equipment including ride-on finishing machines and laser guided screeds
specializes in the application of all horizontal concrete surface finishes ranging from traditional trowel finishes to exposed aggregate, imprinted, pigmented, stained and dyed and polished concrete using a wide range of specialty liquid and cementitious materials systems
repairs and restores existing concrete surfaces and structures

Chef

A Chef:

Works in restaurants, hotels, entertainment clubs, country clubs, spas, bistros and other assorted eateries;
Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation and presentation, menu management, sanitation and food safety, and the use of wines, liquors and spirits in cooking.

Pre-requisite required: Ontario Certification of Qualification in the trade of Cook, 415A

A General Machinist cuts, shapes and finishes metal to make precision machined parts and components used in all areas of manufacturing. Specifically, a General Machinist:

reads and interprets complex engineering drawings and work-process documentation
cuts, shapes, and finishes metal to make precision machined parts and components
sets up and operates both conventional and numerically controlled metal-cutting machines and equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, lathes and mills
performs work-in-process measuring or checking using specialized and precision tools and equipment

A General Carpenter constructs, renovates and repairs structures made of wood, steel, concrete and other materials in the residential, commercial and industrial construction sectors and in related industries. Specifically, a General Carpenter:

establishes building procedures and prepares work sites
lays out, constructs and installs formwork and concrete foundations
frames floors, walls, ceilings and roofs
finishes interiors and exteriors
constructs heavy framing
builds stairs, posts and handrails
lays out, constructs and installs door and window systems
performs renovations

Powerline Technician

A Powerline Technician constructs, maintains and repairs overhead and underground electrical power transmission and distribution systems and communication networks. Specifically, a Powerline Technician:

prepares work plans
installs, maintains and removes power system poles and maintains transmission towers and structures
installs and maintains overhead and underground power systems
splices and terminates conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks
troubleshoots overhead and underground power systems
installs, maintains and removes transformers and hardware
installs, operates and maintains system protection, control and instrumentation equipment and communications systems

Marine Engine Technician

A Marine Engine Technician inspects, diagnoses and repairs marine and watercraft systems including gasoline and diesel engines, fuel management systems, engine electrical systems, marine electrical, electronic and navigation systems, steering and hydraulic systems, drives and propulsion systems. Specifically, a Marine Engine Technician:

performs pre-delivery inspection of marine engines
repairs electrical and electronic marine engine systems and engine fuel management systems
performs engine tune-ups and repairs engine systems
repairs hydraulic, drive and propulsion systems
installs engine and propulsion systems
diagnoses problems in marine craft and boat handling equipment operation
winterizes marine craft systems and accessories

Metal Fabricator (Fitter)

A Metal Fabricator (Fitter) builds, assembles and repairs products made of ferrous and non ferrous metals for use in a wide variety of manufacturing and construction industries. Specifically, a Metal Fabricator (Fitter):

reads and interprets engineered drawings, sketches, codes and standards
plans the sequence of tasks and executes fabrication safely and efficiently
performs calculations and applies shop formulas by using mathematical methods to develop patterns
completes the task of measuring, marking and laying out a variety of plate and structural shapes
sets up and operates trade specific machinery to cut and form parts to be assembled
assembles and fits parts to form sub-assemblies or complete units used in the manufacturing process
connects components using various welding processes and mechanical fasteners
utilizes material handling, rigging, hoisting and lifting equipment safely
performs job duties safely and with precision ensuring compliance with drawings and applicable codes and standards

A Motorcycle Technician repairs, services, overhauls, inspects and tests motorcycles for faults and road worthiness. Specifically, a Motorcycle Technician:

performs diagnosis and repairs motorcycle systems, including: engines and drive lines; fuel systems; charging, starting, ignition, lighting and other electrical systems; cooling systems; chassis and steering systems; front and rear suspensions; braking and anti-lock systems; tires and wheels; sidecars and trikes (three-wheeled motorcycles)
prepares motorcycles for delivery
performs safety inspections
performs scheduled maintenance

Designs, builds, and repairs moulds and models used to mass produce plastic or metal components or products
Builds precision mould components using conventional and numerically controlled metal-cutting machines and equipment including saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, and EDMs
Performs work-in-process measuring or checking using specialized and precision tools and equipment
