A General Machinist cuts, shapes and finishes metal to make precision machined parts and components used in all areas of manufacturing. Specifically, a General Machinist:

  • reads and interprets complex engineering drawings and work-process documentation
  • cuts, shapes, and finishes metal to make precision machined parts and components
  • sets up and operates both conventional and numerically controlled metal-cutting machines and equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, lathes and mills
  • performs work-in-process measuring or checking using specialized and precision tools and equipment

Ironworker – Structural and Ornamental

An Ironworker – Structural and Ornamental fabricates and installs both structural and ornamental steel and iron works and components, as well as precast structural concrete members and laminated timber products in all buildings and structures including but not limited to residential, commercial, industrial, institutional buildings, towers, bridges and stadiums. Specifically, an Ironworker – Structural and Ornamental:

  • fabricates, assembles, installs, erects, alters, repairs, hoists and dismantles structural ironwork, precast and pretentioned concrete as well as all metallic materials in curtain walls, ornamental and other metal work (including specialty metals)
  • operates and maintains hand and power tools, including welding and cutting equipment
  • assembles and erects cranes, rigs and hoists; moves and installs components, materials, heavy equipment and machinery needed to perform ironwork, including installation of all falsework and shoring
  • erects structural members and bridges, and installs and fastens curtain walls and glass systems

Process Operator – Refinery, Chemical and Liquid Processes

Process Operators process, operate, monitor, adjust and maintain processing systems and equipment by:

  • Performing operator duties, outside operator duties and control room operations
  • Operating electronic or computerized control panels
  • Controlling process start up and shut down and performing troubleshooting duties
  • Monitoring outside process equipment
  • Adjusting equipment, valves, pumps and controls, and process equipment
  • Completing required maintenance documentation
  • Preparing process units or production equipment for maintenance
  • Sampling, testing and preparing reports on process operations
  • Participating in safety audits and programs, and provides emergency response

Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Setter

A Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Setter covers interior and exterior walls, floors with terrazzo, tile and/or marble by preparing, measuring and marking the surface to be covered, mixing and applying mortar, mastic, cement, or other adhesives, using hand tools, laying mosaic tiles and removing and replacing cracked or damaged tiles. Specifically, a Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Setter:

  • uses and maintains electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic power tools
  • interprets blueprints and specifications
  • inspects and verifies materials and tools, and sets plumb, level and square lines and surfaces
  • prepares sub-surface
  • installs terrazzo and tile
  • performs mechanical installation of natural stone on walls
  • installs natural stone indoors by conventional or stacking method
  • installs natural stone slabs on floors and counter tops

Brick and Stone Mason

A Brick and Stone Mason builds and repairs walls, floors, arches, pavings, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, smokestacks and other structures. A Brick and Stone Mason often works on industrial, commercial, institutional and residential buildings. Specifically, a Brick and Stone Mason:

  • erects, installs, maintains, repairs and alters walls, floors, arches, pavings, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, smokestacks and other structures
  • works with materials such as brick, natural stone, manufactured stone, tiles, precast masonry panels, glass blocks, concrete blocks, light‐weight insulated panels, other masonry units, insulation and membranes

Draftsperson Tool and Die Design

A Draftsperson – Tooling and Die Design performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Develops and prepares engineering designs and drawings
  • Operates computer-aided design and drafting stations
  • Develops and prepares design sketches
  • Completes documentation packages and produce drawing sets
  • Checks and verifies design drawings
  • Writes technical reports
  • Checks prepared contracts and tender documents
  • Designs and produces simple to complex templates and patterns

  • builds work area enclosures
  • sets up decontamination chambers and waste chutes
  • removes and cleans hazardous material
  • dismantles work area enclosures and decontamination chambers
  • performs post tear-down clean
  • de-mobilizes site enclosures
  • performs routine inspections
